Elon Musk has dramatically softened his tone after his explosive claims about former President Donald Trump last week sent shockwaves through the political world.
The complex dynamic between Trump and Musk was a headline-grabbing storyline ever since Trump’s election victory last year. Their seemingly close alliance was cemented when Trump appointed Musk as the unofficial head of the Department of Government Efficiency—a move that raised eyebrows given Musk held no official government post.
What followed was a high-profile bromance between two of the world’s most influential and unpredictable figures. Musk’s frequent appearances at the White House sparked controversy, while Trump publicly championed Musk, even staging a peculiar PR stunt on the White House lawn to boost Tesla’s faltering stock.
Their partnership appeared seamless—almost too perfect for the volatile personalities involved.
But reality soon caught up. By the end of May, Musk’s chapter within the Trump orbit abruptly closed, paving the way for a shocking twist few saw coming.
Just days after stepping away from the White House, Musk launched a fierce public attack on Trump, going so far as to connect the former president to the murky files surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.

Elon Musk Slams Trump’s ‘Disgusting Abomination’ Bill — Then Drops Bombshell Epstein Claim, Later Expresses Regret
WASHINGTON, DC — On May 30, 2025, Tesla CEO Elon Musk shook hands with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, marking what seemed to be a solid partnership. Musk, who had been advising Trump and heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was preparing to step down to refocus on his businesses.
But tensions quickly flared. Musk fiercely criticized Trump’s so-called “big, beautiful bill,” branding it a “disgusting abomination” that would unravel much of the progress he claimed to have made at DOGE.
Trump wasn’t pleased, but Musk’s next move took things to an entirely new level. Taking to social media, the billionaire unleashed a shocking allegation:
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk declared. “That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
Doubling down, he warned: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
No proof accompanied the incendiary claims. Under mounting pressure, Musk deleted both tweets and later issued a rare public mea culpa on X (formerly Twitter).
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk admitted on June 11.
Trump’s response was swift and dismissive. When asked if the relationship was over, he said bluntly: “I would assume so, yeah. I’m too busy doing other things.”
He added, “I won an election in a landslide. I gave him [Musk] a lot of breaks — long before this happened. I gave him breaks in my first administration and saved his life then. I have no intention of speaking to him.”
